2/10: No Place Like Home (Malayo na pero Malayo pa Photo Competition)

By: Randolph Ryan Gasmin

I travel to capture places, but somewhere along the road, I realized I was really capturing pieces of myself. The farther I go, the more I understand, it’s not the distance that changes you, it’s what you feel along the way. Every frame holds a memory, every road leads to a lesson. I thought I was chasing stories but it was my own heart I was trying to find. Some journeys don’t lead you somewhere new but they lead you back to where you were meant to be. I’ve filmed sunsets, landscapes, cultures, people, emotions outside my home but none will ever feel like the one I watched from home.

"Malayo na, Malayo pa?", These words hit me in a different way. "Malayo na - sa pangarap, pero malayo pa - rin sa piling ng pamilya. The world may have taken me far, but my heart will always find its way home.
