My journey began in a field far from cameras and storytelling. I was once a Medical Technologist, working in a hospital laboratory—specifically in the Blood Bank—for quite some time. Alongside my profession, I was also a hobbyist photographer and videographer. Life took a new direction when my wife brought me to the UK, but my passion for capturing moments had already been growing long before that move.
Back in the Philippines, I traveled extensively with friends, and it was during these adventures that I truly discovered my love for photography and videography. I witnessed breathtaking sunsets and sunrises, vibrant communities, coral reefs, and expansive landscapes across the country. I’m drawn to experiences that push physical limits—caving, scuba diving, freediving, hiking, trail running, cliff jumping, and other adrenaline-filled activities. These moments of intensity and wonder continuously shape the way I see and capture the world.
What Inspires Me When I Take Photos
As a traveler, I believe every place is shaped by its people. Their gestures, traditions, daily rituals, and cultures give each destination its unique character. Through my lens, these fleeting moments become priceless—small stories preserved in time that reflect the soul of a place.
The Story Behind the Contest Photo
One of my most memorable photographs was taken at Mapanuepe Lake in Zambales during the golden hour. My friends and I set out early, hoping to catch a misty view of the lake at sunrise. We were fortunate—the sun rose beautifully as the fog slowly unfurled across the water.

Surrounded by rugged mountains and wide-open skies, the lake stretches peacefully across what was once a lush valley, before Mount Pinatubo’s eruption reshaped the landscape. The water often mirrors the sky, shifting from deep blues to soft grays, especially during sunrise and sunset when golden and amber tones paint the surface. Sparse, skeletal trees rise from the shallows, forming dramatic silhouettes that quietly tell a story of nature’s power and resilience.
Looking Ahead
I am currently drawn toward filmmaking as a space to explore further and expand my creativity. Alongside this, I work part-time as a video editor on Upwork, collaborating with event companies and marketing teams to produce promotional reels and engaging visual content.
While I am still building my portfolio as a videographer and video editor, I take great pride in every project and approach each with passion and intention. My work and creative journey can be viewed at www.litratoph.co.uk.
